n 2012, after an appendectomy at 24 weeks and a diagnosis of HELLP syndrome, our daughter Avery was born at just 29 weeks. Weighing a whopping 2 pounds, 2 ounces, she spent 58 days in the Prentice NICU, where we received a level of care for which I will forever be grateful. I think about the doctors and nurses of Prentice every day, including (but certainly not limited to) Pam Anderson, Meg Brown, Jenny Bartels, and Craig Garfield. We now have a sassy, hilarious third grader, and we have Prentice to thank for that. Joining FOP was a natural way to say thank you and to give back. I now sit on the PR Committee, where I co-chair the Stewardship Report program, and I'm beyond thrilled that I am stepping up as co-chair of the Grants Committee!
